All Because of a Tree

But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.” Galatians 3:13 NLT

Last week we planted Peter's tree, a weeping cherry. I'm not sure he'd be impressed with the pink, though since it's special for Mom I'm sure he'll ok it :) I do know he'd be proud it's already taller than Andrew's tree. Ha! Peter didn't like that Andrew had a tree (planted in honor of what would have been his 10th birthday (over 5 years ago)) when he didn't. I told him someday I'd have one for him too but never explained why.

Today it stands in our front yard, next to Andrew's, a symbol of my boys being together... the beauty of the blooms illustrating the beauty of their lives... the shortness of the blooming timeframe symbolic of their shortened lives.... the long expanse of time while I wait for the next seaon of blooms indicative of my wait until I see them both again. I love my boys' trees!

And it's all because of a tree I have the hope to keep going each day. We just celebrated Jesus death and resurrection: when Jesus willingly placed himself on a tree, taking my place, Andrew & Peter & Jeff's place, taking your place.... making a way for us to come back to God - fullfilling the debt our sins demand, while proving God's great love for us, and his power over all - even death itself! Because of Jesus death and resurrection I will see my boys again, this time never to be apart.
